Vision Statement for 2012: 'Living in Gods Presence' (Psalm 91)
From the Pastor's Desk
April 1st 2012.
April Fool's day - A day when tricks are played, hoax's are planned and people are made to look fools.
This custom has been practiced for hundred's of years. Some think that it goes back as far as Constantine which is around 300 AD and is connected to the activities of jesters, but what is a fool?
According to the dictionary it is someone who is stupid or someone who does silly things. Perhaps someone who will base their life on something false i.e. a 'fools paradise', someone whose life is based on an illusion!
According to the Psalmist in Psalm 53:1, the fool is one who says in his heart that 'there is no God', when there is evidence all around us that tells us God exists! The design of creation needs a designer, just as a building needs a builder so the very structure of the universe needs someone to put it together.
Jesus told us a parable in Luke 12:16-21. This is where he reveals that a fool was someone who may have made plenty of preparations to live a good life in this world but was not ready to meet God, his Maker.
Spriritually speaking, I pray that there are no April Fool's in ICF today, but that each one of us acknowledges the existence of God and are prepared to meet Him by trusting in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
